So I finished my cake now I just need to decide what to do next XD my hat is as of yet unfinished >_> even though I KNOW it would only take a couple of hours to finish it (maybe less) all I’ve been able to to is glance at it, reminding me its there, and think to myself “I’ll get around to finishing it” only to do something else ^^;;

Actually, my dad wanted to look at some new houses near by, they’re nice, smaller then ours is, only the layout makes the rooms a lot bigger.  But that’s besides the point, the lady who works at the front office by the model homes, she said she liked my hat (the beige acrylic one), so of course I was super happy and told her that I made it myself :3 and she wanted to know if I make and sell hats :D   Unfortunately I don’t, and told her I didn’t, but she said I should XD which gave me a huge crafty ego boost lol.  One of the cashiers at Jo Ann’s actually told me the same thing when I wore it there :3 so I think I’ll take Lei’s advice and start an Etsy store.  Only when you go browsing at everything on etsy (which I do a lot) you realize that all the stuff is so well thought out, and well made, it gets kind of intimidating D:  But I figured if there’s someone who wants to buy a uterus plushie there’s someone who wants to buy something I’ve made lol (not that I’ll be making uterus plushies anytime soon o_o).

But before thinking about selling anything online, the hat comes first!

… meh, maybe later…

Buy! Buy!! BUY!!! October 20, 2008

>_> ahem, I. Am. SO. Broke. D:  You’d think a convention center full of middle aged and elderly crafty/Christmas fanatics would mean I’d come away pretty much unscathed, but alas, no, not me, >_> I have weird taste in all things so I am now in the hole \o/

First off on the way to the Harvest Festival we stopped off at Little Tokyo since I rarely get to buy manga from Kino.  Mom got off with me because she was craving some coffee >_> and I decided to get a honeydew boba smoothie <3 yummeh.  Bought manga at Kinokuniya :D spent way too much and would have spent more but I couldn’t find volume 2 of Otona Pink (Sato Zakuri), volume 1 of Dengeki Daisy (Motomi Kyousuke), and none of Eden no Trill (Fujita Maki) so I did spend as much as I could have.  But I did spend the most I have ever spent on manga o_o and that’s including the American publishing companies.  >_> I spent a couple cents over $75 on 12 mangas.  I got volumes 1-5 of Black Bird (Sakurakouji Kanako), volume 6 of Full House Kiss (Yuwa Shiori), volumes 2 and 3 of Dengeki Daisy, volumes 10 and 11 of Shiawase Kissa San Choume (Matsuzuki Kou), and volume 1 of Kyou mo Ashita mo (Emura) and Kamisama Hajimemashita (Suzuki Julietta).

After Little Tokyo we went to the Harvest Festival.  :3 Its kind of become a tradition since I’ve been going to it with my grandmother since I was 8.  I went with my mom again this year >_> and since she didn’t have any cash on her I spent a lot more then I expected to.  The most expensive buy was a print from a painting by Tanya Doskova that my mom wanted.  I also bought two more prints by her (a painting and a monoprint) she and her husband were super nice ^_^ I wanted to buy some of her other stuff but no money and all.  I also saw the guy who I bought a bracelet from last time, he makes jewelry from old silverware, last year I got a spoon (1920’s) bracelet (just the handle part) with a pink pearl in the middle, this year I got a fork (1940’s) :D .  He had stretched the tines out to kind of intertwine them into a heart shape :3 its cute.

Since I was low on any kind of chapstick/lib balm I bought some all natural beeswax balm made from lavender (since it was a lavender seller XD), sweet almond oil, comfrey, rose geranium, and lemon \o/ smells so nice~  It’s a balm so I can use it on cuts and stuff but I’ll probably be using it on my lips mostly :3  Being a lavender place they had a whole bunch sachets and stuff, but then I saw a lavender wand o_o; and I was kind of like, “why the hell would anyone want a lavender wand?” because of course in my mind I’m picturing freakin’ wannabe wiccans waving around a wand in the local parks of Long Beach…  So I asked the lady who was working there that the lavender farm guy told her it was used to freshen up clothes and linens back when people never took baths, so of course I had to buy one.  I’ll put it in my linen drawer :3 since lavender is said to help with sleep.  Too bad there aren’t any large parks where I live, I could have run around with a dark cloak and my wand :< oh well, there’s always the hills…

I also bought some other stuff, food of course and mom wanted some things for the house, and I finished my Christmas shopping while I was at it XD thought I’m still probably going to make something for mom and dad.  I’m actually feeling alot more relaxed about about all my buys then I was Saturday night and Sunday o_o; since I was freaking out about the amount of money I spent lol.  Of course the fact that my mom actually owes me half of what I spent makes me feel a lot better :D

Hypocrisy much? October 11, 2008

So I just read today’s blog on the PoliticalTicker.  Although I think what Sen. Wallace just a slight stretch, but McCain’s remark is priceless.

“Congressman John Lewis’ comments represent a character attack against Governor Sarah Palin and me that is shocking and beyond the pale,” … “The notion that legitimate criticism of Senator Obama’s record and positions could be compared to Governor George Wallace, his segregationist policies and the violence he provoked is unacceptable and has no place in this campaign. I am saddened that John Lewis, a man I’ve always admired, would make such a brazen and baseless attack on my character and the character of the thousands of hardworking Americans who come to our events to cheer for the kind of reform that will put America on the right track.”

I’m sorry, but having Palin whip a crowd into a frenzy where they boo at even the hint of the name Obama is one thing, its even expected, but then to keep the frenzy going to where people are calling out “terrorist” and “kill him” (even shouting racial epithets at a black network guy) and then not saying ANYTHING to curtail that is not only irresponsible its dangerous.  That IS the exact kind of thing that will have people act on those words.  She has a responsibility as a VP candidate to stop it, she has a moral obligation to stop that kind of mob mentality, even if it is just a whiff of it.  History proves it doesn’t take much to escalate that kind of mentality.  I’m wondering what happened to (and grieving for) the old McCain, someone needs to tell the Senator to put a leash on his running mate.  At one point I admired him for having a good deal on integrity, even if you disagreed with his point of view he was still a man who was very true what he believed in, at times even at the cost of pissing off his own party.  That kind of integrity was a trait that would be synonymous with a leader.  This persona that’s taken over McCain is another beast entirely.

So I started another hat a while back :3  I got the pattern from creativeyarn so cute~  And a lot of her other stuff is nice, the cowl neck capelet is on my to-do-NOW list.

I of course have to modify things a bit, considering my head size, and the shear amount of hair I have (I swear its about the size of my entire head right now x_x).  I’m making it bigger my using a larger weight yarn and a larger hook, that seems to work for me, in fact while I’m working on it it kind of looks a little larger then it should be >_> if that’s the case I’ll just make it an oversized beret ^^;;

inc2 inc3

Pretty color yarn~  It’s Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Rose Heather.  Easy yarn to considering this is my second hat and I have to modify hat patterns, its 80% Acrylic and 20% wool.  I had the hat partway done when I saw Lei last month, only I had to unravel everything since I had started with one hook and then at some point I switched hooks.  Why you ask?  The hell if I know @_@ I just noticed it was looking a little too huge and I knew my head wasn’t THAT big.  So I had to unravel and start all over XD

On a side note, nice fabric?  I guess you can call it vintage :D it has that 70’s look to it keke.  It’s actually the underside of my baby blanket my godmother made me when I was born.  My mom hid it away so I wouldn’t become overly attached to it and make it threadbare lol, so now I use it as a throw.
